Senior Northamptonshire councillors approve deeper cuts

Northamptonshire CC’s dire financial position deteriorated further this week, with senior councillors today approving plans for even deeper cuts following a warning from auditors.

The crisis at the county is now so bad that officials confirmed tight spending controls imposed through the recent Section 114 notice would apply into 2018/19 – extending the period for which Northamptonshire will be limited to essential spending and services for the vulnerable.
