'Significant improvements but hard choices to come'

Dumfries & Galloway Council has a clear strategic direction, more effective leadership, and better systems for planning, monitoring and continuous improvement, the Accounts Commission has found.

The verdict by the local authority watchdog published today contrasts with a 2009 report, which identified serious weaknesses in the council’s leadership, management and services.
