Whitehall officials have insisted they are continuing to push ahead with waste consistency plans despite a one-year delay in the Government’s extended producer responsibility (EPR) rollout.
The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) said it had decided to defer landmark environmental reforms that would shift the cost of collecting household waste from taxpayers to producers after pleas from industry bosses.
