Glasgow City Council's leadership has insisted it remains ‘fully committed' to working with unions and staff to ‘deliver a fairer and more sustainable pay structure'.
The council had threatened to dismiss all non-teaching staff and issue fresh contracts next year in order to lawfully end its current pay and grading structure after equal pay talks with unions broke down.
Glasgow eventually agreed to ‘pause the process of dismissing and re-engaging staff following constructive discussions' with the Scottish Government and unions last week.
Workforce convener Cllr Allan Casey said space had been created for ‘further intensive negotiations with the joint trade unions'.
