The reaction of global stock and bond markets to the Silicon Valley Bank crisis is just a symptom of a world that is seemingly more uncertain than ever. Public health crisis, followed by a cost of living crisis, and now a banking crisis means more than ever voters want action. Even the libertarian venture capitalists of California, who last week ran for help from a Government they previously derided as useless and ineffective, quite like activist Government when it suits them.
