Aiming higher

This year has seen a record number of vacancies at universities, with some commentators comparing clearing to the football transfer window.

However, in the scramble to bag a place, the question for parents and students remains – is all the time, trouble and money involved in going to university really worth it? But it is also a question for local authorities.

Enhancing skills and employment opportunities is a priority for London local government. All boroughs recognise that to secure local economic growth, there must be a workforce which suits business needs.
