Councils to call for delay to police mental health plan

Pressure is mounting on ministers to delay police plans to withdraw from attending non-emergency mental health callouts amid concerns across councils, NHS bodies and charities.

Ministers last week announced the rollout of a national partnership agreement between the Department of Health and Social Care, NHS England and police - meaning forces will only attend emergency callouts involving mental health crises so as to free up resources to fight crime.
