Government urges councils to share asylum burden

The Government has urged councils to share the burden of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) despite offering no clarity of funding in return.

Director of the resettlement programme, Paul Morrison, said he wanted to ‘underline the need for greater participation from local authorities across the country’ but also confirmed that a review of funding currently underway will not be published until early next year.
