Mayors should be handed control over COVID recovery funds and be given a seat at the Cobra emergency committee, Sheffield city region mayor Dan Jarvis said today.
In a letter to chancellor Rishi Sunak, Mayor Jarvis also urged him to accelerate proposals to move Treasury staff from Westminster to the North, which he said would demonstrate a shift of powers and resources.
