Levelling up is needed more than ever

Levelling up has dominated the political landscape for the past three years. Yet this year’s party conference season marked a notable shift in the agenda.

With Boris Johnson resigning over the summer, there was a chance that levelling up would recede into the political background. Instead, both major political parties attempted to articulate their own direction for the soundbite. Over the course of the past few weeks of party conferences, we have seen different and competing visions presented for what a levelled up and prosperous country could look like.
