More powers call after welfare reform report

The Government’s welfare reform objectives are being undermined by a string of financial challenges facing local authorities, new research has suggested.

A study by the Learning and Work Institute (LWI), commissioned by the Local Government Association (LGA) and published today, revealed how financial and demographic pressures facing local authorities were combining to undermine progress in delivering successful welfare reforms.
