In his poem Ulysses, Lincolnshire’s poet laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson, looks back on journeys through a life, reflecting perhaps on the state of the world as he sees it. In doing so, he issues a call to action: ‘Come, my friends, it is not too late to seek a newer world’.
