Spending Review must meet costs of refugee resettlement

Local government has cautiously welcomed the Government’s commitment to continue resettling refugees after a flagship scheme ends next year.

Home secretary Sajid Javid announced the UK would take in 5,000 refugees in 2020 following the ending of the vulnerable person’s resettlement scheme, which has accommodated 16,000 people since 2015.
