Squeezed Somerset reins in overspend

Under-pressure Somerset CC has reduced its projected overspend in 2018/19 from £3.2m to £2.4m, senior councillors will hear next week.

The council, which was one of four to receive an adverse conclusion from its external auditors in 2017/18, has delivered savings and efficiencies of around £143m since 2010.
