That complex conversation with business

The dialogue between councils and their local businesses can sometimes be a mixed one. Councils across the country have a proud record of working closely with business partners to shape local places, drive growth and employment opportunities and help communities share greater prosperity.

On the surface, the move to having a greater proportion of council services funded through business rates growth could further reinforce that strategic relationship. And yet, that policy development can also add to the complexity of the conversation.
