Tidal lagoon rejection ‘bitter pill’ for Wales

An urgent meeting with Welsh secretary Alun Cairns has been demanded by the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) after Whitehall failed to back a major energy project.

The £1.3bn Swansea Bay tidal lagoon, which would have been the first project of its kind in the world, will not go ahead after the Government judged it would not provide value for money.
