We need a public policy rewrite to fix social mobility

The Social Mobility Commission report is particularly welcome at a time when public social policy has come to Brexit dominated standstill.

We need to ask ourselves the question of whether focusing on social mobility is the right approach to public policy? It assumes there will be enough well-paid jobs and enough opportunity for everyone if only we are all more socially mobile and schools were better. We know this not the case.
