Brum hits back at Wilshaw 'rotten borough' attack

Birmingham City Council has hit back at outgoing chief inspector of schools, Sir Michael Wilshaw, after he launched a scathing attack on the council’s children’s services in the weekend press.

Council leader John Clancy has vowed to write to the secretaries of state for education and local government over the ‘extraordinary outburst’. 

Sir Michael described Birmingham as ‘a rotten borough… beyond redemption’ in an interview with the Sunday Times before he leaves his post later this month, claiming it was in danger of another 'Trojan horse' scandal.
