We're not going to do your work for you, Government tells councils on Grenfell

Local authorities should not expect the Government to do their work for them to make buildings safe, the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government's (MHCLG) top official has warned.

Giving evidence to the Communities and Local Government Committee yesterday, MHCLG permanent secretary, Melanie Dawes, said that after the Grenfell Tower fire many councils wanted to be told exactly what needs to be done to make a building safe.
