MPs told needs indicators could be 'almost halved'

Key indicators used to calculate councils’ needs could be almost halved while controversial ‘thresholds’ used in the formula funding model could be ditched, an independent review of council finances concluded today.

Detailed analysis from LG Futures, commissioned by the Communities and Local Government Committee, said the current needs and funding assessments for councils could be made simpler and more transparent.
