Councils hit back at Green Belt research

Councils do not need to meet all their housing needs as assessed by the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and can make do with less, according to the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE).

Windsor & Maidenhead RBLC and Christchurch and East Dorset BCs have both opted to meet their assessed needs, including on greenbelt sites, according to the report. This is in contrast to Brighton & Hove City Council which has set its target at less than half of the assessed number.
