Welsh secretary pans tax raises for second homes

New Welsh secretary Robert Buckland has spoken out against ‘punitive’ plans to charge more council tax for second homes.

Under plans unveiled by Welsh First Minister Mark Drakeford, councils are to be given powers to increase council tax for up to 300% to tackle the growing number of second and holiday homes.Launching the proposals last month, Mr Drakeford said the plans were part of a ‘radical programme’.
